Calenderscarf KAL

Finally done!

2008 scarf is finished minus a few sections/days at the end. I ran out of yarn...

I've also included a pic of my blocking this scarf.

I soaked it for 20 minutes in a large mixing bowl full of lukewarm water and a teaspoon of wool wash. I carefully transferred to a large bath towel and rolled the towel to get excess water out.

Evenly spread it on my blocking board...beat it with a yard stick to straighten out stitches.

I then threaded my blocking wires carefully through all edges and pinned into place. I smoothed from the center out to get it to lie down nicely...let dry for 12 hours with a fan.

Waalaaa!

I am not going to have enough yarn to do all the days, (I realized that again) so a few of the sections I think I will only do one repeat rather than 2 of the whole day. But it's going well! I'm on day 16. I am doing this at night or early AM when I can't get back to sleep again. We shall see if I get this done finally! I am hoping to wear it for the holidays THIS year. :GRIN:

2009 kal - Calendar Scarf

I did it! I finally can say yeah it's done! I LOVE IT! I am happy with the color. I sometimes have a hard time picturing how it's going to look when done. I got behind in the beginning and was a little frustrated with not being able to keep up but finally realized that it wasn't about keeping up it was about having fun knitting something new. I enjoyed knitting with you ladies and came away with alot of new knitting skills. I'm proud to say yes I can do that now. Looking forward to wearing still if Seattle stays chilly! Well, the end has come to a delightful experience! I've sure enjoyed knitting along with everyone ~ it's so much more enjoyable than knitting alone! Not that I don't enjoy knitting alone, but I think you can get my point.

It's been fun to see my closest knitting buddies grow. Kelli, it's awesome to have you online more & chatting with you. The sheer volume of things you have 'on the needles' at any given time is amazing to me and that you still managed to be the first to finish, although not totally surprising, gave me the extra push I needed to 'catch-up' with the master and finish! And take my word for it, ladies, Annette has become a much better knitter thru this experience! I was surprised when she said she was interested in doing such a large project and she is doing a SUPER job! It's been fun getting to know the rest of you also, especially Twisted and Tone, and I hope to see some progress pics from the other gals that joined our little KAL.

So, the things I take away from this experience are as follows ~

I like to blog. I am so not a chatterbox but I have always liked to write and I've enjoyed having an outlet for that.
The feeling that I can make anything has been reinforced ~ what a huge, challenging project! I've only been knitting for 2 years and every once in a while it strikes me how far I've come in such a short time.
I love to do lace ~ I'm a math lover and it was fun to figure out each panel before hand as far as the stitch counts and where there were increase rows and decrease rows. And if anyone is interested, if you do all 24 panels as written, there are 69,277 stitches in this piece of artwork! Mine, on the other hand, has 69,625 since I added 4 rows to one of the panels! Almost 70 thousand stitches ~ if you didn't have a sense of accomplishment before, hopefully that little fact does it for you ;)
A little creativity bug has been sparked in me ~ I have an idea for a KAL for later in the year sometime, kind of based on this pattern. I was thinking that we could have a DAL/KAL (design along/knit along) ~ everyone could design their own panel based on a favorite pattern or lace or cable. We could choose a yarn weight and panel dimension before hand and give everyone a couple months to write up a pattern for 1 panel and make a sample to make sure that it worked and when we had enough people with finished designs, we could blog along and make a scarf with everyone's pieces included. I can iron out all the details later if anyone has any interest and input!
The most comfortable place for me to knit is in my car!! I've been having neck & back troubles and headaches the last couple weeks and it was all because of the chair I've been sitting in. I knit in my car for an hour this week ~ heated leather seat, full lumbar support and my feet completely flat on the floorboard and MAN, I could have sat there for HOURS!! So if you come looking for me and I'm nowhere to be found, check the driveway!

So, the needles are out of the scarf and awaiting another project. Happy knitting to everyone and I'll be checking in to see posts from those of you that haven't finished so please keep posting!!

Oh, and if you're curious, the above photo is OneKnitWit and I at one of my favorite LYS' ~ Wild Fibers in Mt Vernon. We hit the pre-Superbowl Sale with ThirdKnitWit this morning and took advantage of the opportunity to have a photo taken with our Calendar Scarves. In a very comical moment, Sarah, the owner who I have never officially met, walked up in front of me, lifted an end of my scarf that was still around my neck and said, "So, is this the tarp?". Very funny!!!!

The last post I believe I made I had finally finished day three. I have been trailing behind since we started. Oh-well!!! Now I am posting up to day eleven and am still really liking the color of my yarn. I can't wait to be able to wear. It snowed again yesterday so it's pretty cold out and would love the opportunity to wear soon!! To the ladies who have finished bravo and they are very pretty. TWO-KNIT-WIT .... DAY NINETEEN .... aka my absolute favorite!!!

Very happy with this panel! I love cable and haven't done much of it so the combination of the lace and the cable was very exciting for me! These days are definitely getting a bit more challenging so I'm only able to do about 1/2 per day ... hopefully I'll be able to finish this weekend!

Thanks for all the blocking homework, Rachel! I'm in a totally different boat since my yarn is a superwash merino wool so I THINK I can follow the washing instructions and lay it flat to dry, shaping it as it dries? We'll see ~ this is all new to me!

Also, I finally tried it on yesterday 'just to see' since I hadn't yet and after wrapping it around my neck 4 times....I LOVE it as a scarf ... or I can be mummified when I die and they can use it as my lacy salmon colored mummy wrap ;) ... it's late and I'm getting a bit punchy, sorry! ~ I've got lots more where that came from, you poor souls! (I'm pretty sure I just heard a loud groan from somebody!)

Hi all,

I'm late on this, (not my usual MO!) but I thought I would cut and paste a few relevant pieces of info from my blocking report that I had to do for Masters Level 1. (to which I am still waiting word back on how I did...)

Just add this to your info on blocking things...there is NO one right way, nor is there a standard rule. This is just what the books say to do...take what works for you and leave the rest!

Blocking Basics

Wool and most wool blends require shaping and stretching into shape. Shetland wool types will “plump up” when washed and care needs to be taken when drying it. Most wool can be blocked by pinning into shape and then misting with cold water.

Alpaca, camel, cashmere, angora and other ‘hairy’ animal types can be wet blocked, being careful not to wring, stretch out or twist. Gently supporting the garment while transferring it wet so it doesn’t stretch with the weight of the water in it. Suggestions for stockinette stitch garments in alpaca fibers include “beating” the piece with a ruler, or yardstick, to relax the fibers. They will fall into place evenly and dry uniformly after pinning or shaping it into place.
Silk requires special care and label reading is important. Silk commonly needs more water when blocking other than a light mist.

Some stitch patterns can be enhanced by blocking them. Lace patterns will be defined, points made sharper, and overall shape can be improved. Shawls beautify with blocking after they are completed and are a must. Draw out points in the lace, pinning all the corners.
Materials needed for blocking includes, but aren’t limited to;
a flat surface that is water safe, non-rusting pins, blocking wires (for lace) absorbent towels or a thin towel, portable fans, spray bottle, wool wash or soak, and a ruler for measuring, a steam iron or steamer. Don’t forget the pattern with size requirements.

Methods used for blocking includes wet blocking, damp towel, steam blocking, and spray blocking.

In wet blocking, the item is completely saturated in tepid water with or without a brand name wool wash or soak, and then the water is gently removed by pressing into absorbent towels. Never twist or wring to remove the water. Care must be taken when removing your wet items from the water so excessive stretching from the water weight isn’t an issue. Pinning the item starting from the center and working out, on a flat surface to specific measurements given and then drying would finish this process. Portable fans may be used in high humidity to speed drying.

Damp towel method includes laying out the pieces of a garment and laying a damp towel over them for a few hours. Towels should be dampened or wet lightly, not to soaking. Rolling the knitted piece up in a heavy towel and then run through a rinse/spin cycle in a washing machine, placing it in a plastic bag for a few hours will also achieve a uniformly damp piece ready for pinning and shaping. This method also works well to “freshen” a sweater or take away bagginess at the elbows.

Steam blocking involves pinning out your pieces first to the sizes and measurements desired. With an iron set on steam, gently move iron over the knitted pieces without touching the fabric. This would flatten the knitting, leave a slight shine and for some fibers, melt the piece. Using a thin damp towel over the piece to prevent burning or touching the garment is suggested as well. This would also create more steam. Do not remove knitting until completely dry.

Spray blocking (or pin blocking) uses a spray bottle and non-rusting pins or T pins. Laying out the pieces flat, right side up, begin pinning out the desired width and lengths to match the measurements given in the pattern. Never pin out the ribbing unless directed. Mist heavily with water and allow to dry completely before carefully removing pins. Holes left by the pins need to be considered, so remembering to place pins carefully in the edges without separating the yarn fibers is a good rule to follow.

Things to remember or keep in mind when pinning your garments; lace can stretch out generously to open up a stitch pattern, gently pinning, patting, and re-pinning is sometimes necessary, always starting in the center of your garment pinning, and remembering if you stretch too much on one side, it may cause the other side to pull-so adjustments may be needed. Measure once, measure twice is a good thing to do EVERY time.

So much easier with a new days pattern lol:. Now - only 2 pattern pieces left and then I am done - YEAH!
But - I found one more error in the pattern. In the English version there is one line left out...
When finished row 13, next line sais Rep. row 3-8 one more time.
If you do this you will only get 2 of the "flowerish kind of things" in the hight.
The missing row sais Rep. row 3-14 one more time.
And then you do the Rep. row 3-8 one more time.
When this is finished you have knitted the same as the photo in the pattern with 3 of the "flowerish kind of things" in the hight.

TWO-KNIT-WIT .... DAY EIGHTEEN (and days 16 thru 18)

I had a tough time today! The 'big stitch' directions were not totally clear ~ maybe something was lost in translation? I'm not sure but the way I interpreted it was completely wacky! I ended up with a mess and 40 too few stitches! So, I have 2 very helpful hints to those of you that haven't yet done this day ~ #1 ~ knit loosely if you're a tight knitter and #2 ~ check out 'crossover stitch' videos on youtube (thanks Kelli, for that great pointer!) if you've never done this stitch before! It's much easier than the directions make it out to be and hopefully you won't have wasted any precious knitting moments having to tear back to your lifeline! Have fun with this one!

(and my photo is sideways again ~ sorry ~ I cannot figure out why it's uploading topsy-turvy and then I cannot figure out how to spin it so it's upright)

Day 19 and 20 looks a bit strange here in the photo, but I really put my hopes in to blocking...

Yes, I skipped Day 10 in there somewhere. Or was it Day 9???

I'm slowly getting to this when I can, my insomnia has "passed" for now, so my knit time with other projects going on is not as plentiful! This is a BIG knit!

Realizing I won't have enough yarn has me also trying to figure out how I'm going to squeeze all my sections in. Maybe not as many repeats in some sections? Since I "ahem" missed one day, I have marked it and may stick it in in the end of the scarf if I have enough yarn...but it's not looking like I will. My yarn ball came from Estonia with a handwritten "gram" slip...and ladies at the yarn shop tried to help me convert it into yardage to figure out if I had enough for this scarf. When "WE" figured..it came out with 2 yards to spare...just enough. But I'm looking at how many days I have left, my yarn ball and I'm thinking it's either going to be REALLY, REALLY close, or missing a few sections. Either way, it's turning out to be a lovely knit, and I think I will enjoy this one immensely when it is finished. I'm just a bit behind my fellow KAL'ers. But that's okay, I'm drooling over their scarfs (some finished or close to it!) and I'll be straggling behind with the others who started late.

TWO-KNIT-WIT .... DAY SEVENTEEN

I wasn't sure about this day til about row 18 or so. I couldn't make heads nor tails out of the pattern...if there was a pattern! I thought for sure that I had messed up somewhere along the way on this one, too, since I just wasn't seeing any rhyme or reason to it. I almost ripped the whole day out and started over but am glad that I didn't because I like it now that it's complete. I have to say my favorite part of this day is that long, straight row of k2tog, yo's at the top ~ love that organized look ~ like a perfect row of little soldiers!

Now onto day 16 ~went cross-eyed reading this day at midnight last night ~ I was actually thinking of starting to work on it and then thought better of it. I need a good cup of coffee (or two!) in me this morning before I venture onto 'big stitches' ~ YIKES! Wish you lived closer, Kelli, so I could come to you for guidance when I get stuck!

Gotta go knit! Most of my weekend chores are done, hubby's at work and I have the entire day to myself ~maybe, just maybe, today is the day I catch up!

TWO-KNOTHEADED-KNIT-WIT .... DAY SIXTEEN ;)

I decided that I liked row 11 & 12 SO MUCH that I did them twice...and didn't realize it til a few rows later...was going to rip it back out but then decided that it wouldn't EXACTLY be a mistake if I made the taller mitten fingers (don't they look like mitten fingers?) have the same error so I did row 19 & 20 twice also ~~~ I don't think it looks bad BUT I know the mistake is there so I'm not sure if this will bother me til the end of time! I'm trying to learn not to be so hard on myself so it stays even though it's not PERFECT :)

On a more positive note, row 13 was a breeze ~ thanks, Tone!

I got it done around 10:00p.m. tonight!

TWO-KNIT-WIT ... DAYS FOURTEEN AND FIFTEEN ... and 12 thru 15

I'm back! Got up at 6:30 this morning ready to knit the day away & try to catch up a bit ~ and 5 minutes later my arm went completely numb! Needless to say, I was SO disappointed and I went back to bed. Got up a little later and totally encased myself in pillows (including one under my tailbone) and have been knitting away ever since! I think I've got something pinched or knotted or out of alignment BUT there's no stopping me! Managed to finish day 14 & 15 and now it's on to day 16 (which will hopefully go smoothly thanks to Tone!).

I have an idea for another KAL for later in the year so everyone has time to recover from this amazingly giant project and also have some time to be a little creative, if anyone's interested. I'll let you know about it later but right now, it's back to my padded chair!

An error in day 16...

After knitting and frogging and thinking back, then more frogging and counting - am I sure it is an error in the pattern of day 16...

Row 13 sais S1,K1,PSSO

If I do this I end up with no system in the stitches and some stitches too much in the end.

SO - either have I done something wrong in the rows before the 13th, or there is something wrong in the pattern.

If I do S1, K2TOG,PSSO on row 13 I get the correct look on my knitting, and the stitches match in numbers...

Watch out when you come to this point - and if your knitting look weird, try the K2TOG instead of the K1 and see if it turns out correct that way.

....so what do you do for a knitting induced headache??? I'm on day 3 ~ every time I sit down to knit it flares up again ~ I think I need to reorganize this weekend and make myself a new little 'knitting nest' ~ these endless days of knitting have left a deep booty impression in my knitting chair and now I'm sitting funny or something and I can only get about 3 or 4 rows done and there it is again ....

so, I'm on day 3 of Day 14 and still not finished ~ boohoo ~ I was doing so good, too!

never fear, I'll get it figured out and be back shortly ~ not that there is any other way for me to be back ~ 'tall-y' just doesn't fit with me ;) ... see, Rachel, there's no need to make short jokes ~ I have an endless supply of them!

Day 14 and 15

Now this was more my kind of knitting, short repeats to remember and easy to knit.
I will bring my scarf to knitnight today, but not for knitting - only to show the others. For me this knitting can only be done in deep consentration, and that is not what knitnights are for lol:.
The lovely spring weather we had for 2 days has left and now it is back to freezing degrees, so I am eager to get my scarf finished and done - I want to wear it - now!

I have been a day left back for some time now, but now I'm back on track. Day 13 is finished, and it was a knitting nightmare I think. I am not good at remembering long pattern repeats, so this was a challange. But it looks right... And if it not had been right I would never have frogged it and started again lol:. So, for those of you that not yet has knitted day 13, I guess I have made you worried lol:. Don't think of it, I'm sure you will find it much easier than I did!

I was looking yesterday to see if anyone outside of our little knitting circle is working on the calendar scarf and I found only 1 person.....so I told her if she wanted company that she could hop on board! She's not quite as far as most of us but not very behind at all and her wip pic is really pretty ~ she emailed me back and said it sounded like fun and she was going to get more yarn! So, Tone, if you don't mind, could you get her linked in with the rest of us ;) ? Her Ravelry name is wonderlywroughte ~ I think she's a Jersey girl but I'm not sure. Our little group keeps growing!

...and I saw Annette's scarf today and it's great! she's having camera problems I think and will eventually get a picture posted!

Days 14, 15, 16,part of 17. side veiw no flash, kinda warm looking, for all you cold people...
another picture my 17 yr old daughter helped me, she's so fast, so 4 pics today. Another warm picture of days 14,15,16 part 17 .
Just love this scarf it's a perfect project in Jan. when nothing is going on and everyday a pretty, challenging,exercise your mind friend is sitting and waiting for you to pick her up and knit.

Just could take pictures all day, here you can see my version of day 13 :(. Maybe if I'd been able to use the lace needles it might have worked better. But I held the whole scarf up to my husband and asked if he could tell which section I'd made up and he could'nt tell. He's always brutally honest, he did tell me that I let day 13 beat me, see what I mean?

The reason I've been going a head is because for Christmas I bought my mom a sweater class for her and I,it starts this Sunday. It's a bottom up no seams insert sleeves sweater class a kind I've never done. So I'm going to be focused on that,but will be still involved with you.

Just love this project everyone should have a kal in January!

Here comes my day 10 and 11, and I hope you all will have this photo in mind during the KAL! This is the closest I have come to take a photo of the real blue color, it is almost like the original -YAY!

Now that twoknitwit has told about day 12 I am not looking forward to the knit lol:, but it is also fun with some challange.

I found today particularly nerve-racking ~ all the YO2's and dropped stitches had me counting at the end of every single row. I kept feeling I had singled a double yarn-over or forgotten to drop a stitch ~ luckily, that didn't happen since I think this day would have been a BEAR to have to pick back thru!

Hope everyone hasn't given up on this scarf! I feel like I'm being obnoxious posting every day ~ kind of like chatting with myself (which I am known to do ~ Annette can testify to that!). Maybe I'll start posting every other day so I don't drive you guys crazy! ;)

Day 8 and 9, this was a fun knit I think. I have actually made a scarf in the pattern from day 9 long time ago. Never use it because it is curling to much...
One third finished and I am starting to worry about how to be able to block this thing in to the pretty scarf I have imagined that I will wear in February... Fingers crossed that it will turn out nicely, I have never blocked something like this successfully.

I don't know why I had such troubles with this Day 7. I had corrections put in from Hobbygaasa, but I still had issues. I had to tink back quite a few times, but not a full row of frogging (thank goodness!). Looking forward to Day 8. Everyone's scarves are inspiring me to keep on--a row here and there, to get to the next section/day!!!

Ok - sorry for my total absence!
My FIL had taken a fall and after getting him to the ER they told that he had broken a bone in his leg... near the hips... And I can feel that my English is not so good that I can explain - never mind - he has had a sergury and everything is fine.
The hospital is not a good place for knitting lace, however sock knitting was a great thing to bring, so I am soon finished with my pair of Cascade socks lol:.

TWO-KNIT-WIT .... DAY EIGHT
....and a few quick thoughts....

my picture is sideways ~ not sure why ~ wasn't when I uploaded it ~ and don't know how to fix it

another of my favorite days but decided the days I like the LOOK of the best are a little too repetitive and the days that aren't necessarily my favorites when complete are the ones I like to DO the most because they're more interesting ~ kind of like puzzles ~ get it? so, there's something redeeming about every panel and I'm happy at the end of every day for different reasons

I have a major cramp in my thumb

thought of a few more things I could use my giant scarf for ~ Annette suggested I could drape it over my couch (good idea ~ only flaw is we're remodeling and don't own any furniture right now!) ~ I was thinking either a hammock or I could loan it out to the fire department and they could use it to catch people jumping out of burning buildings ;) ~ all kidding aside, the longer my beautiful scarf gets, the less wide it seems so it will be great in the end I think!

...AND today I am officially a third of the way thru the pattern! YEAH

oh, one more thing...my first internet yarn purchase (Jimmy Beans) went off without a hitch! it came in todays mail (LOVE getting yarn in the mail!!!!) AND surprise, surprise and much to my delight it is the SAME LOT NUMBER as the 4 skeins I purchased locally ~ who'd of thunk it??? I'm a lucky girl ... and very tired so I'm off to bed (thankfully an hour earlier than yesterday!)

This was a much "tamer" knit...I didn't have to frog anything, which I was very thankful for because I forget to weave in my lifeline before I started, (just in case) and I'm still in my "dark" run in the yarn. So those pesky YO's disguise themselves next to the PSSO's. But it's all good...I'm having fun and not so fearful of holey things!

TWO-KNIT-WIT .... DAY SEVEN ... a musical moment ;)

I've often wondered how someone can play the piano and sing at the same time ~ I don't play an instrument and it seems impossible to me that you could do something that complicated and also something else simultaneously.

I had a moment like that tonight ~ I was halfway thru the repeat and on a right-side lace row. I was watching a movie and all of a sudden realized that I had finished the row ~ I panicked because I had no idea how I had gotten there and thought for sure that I was going to have to back the whole thing out ~ BUT ~ to my surprise, all my YO's and K2Tog and everything were where they were supposed to be and there were still 87 stitches! I can do that with plain stockinette and garter but LACE?! My fingers have minds of there own I guess ~ isn't that funny!

Past my bedtime ~ up at 4:30 to go to work ~ looking forward to seeing everyone else's day 7 to make sure mine looks right!

Well, probably not - guess you all are at work...
1. In the 7th row there is a PSSP - have no idea of what this is... But in the Sweedish version it sais PSSO, so I guess that is a spelling error...
2. In row 9 (I think it was) I ended up with 1 sts too much... I continued to knit through row 15, but it was obvious that it was wrong so I HAD TO FROG ALL DAY 7!!!!
I have probably made a YO too much...
SO - my day 7 is not to be knitted today - this evening I am going to knit on my socks in beautiful Cascade sock yarn!

I'm finding the darker shade of blue makes counting "tricky"...those YO's are sneaky when they blend in with the next stitch...bright light is much needed. I too found this day to be much more "orderly" and the lines very satisifying.

....true confession time....I knit ahead a bit this weekend so that I'm not hopelessly behind by next weekend .... I feel like I'm cheating (yikes!) but I can't put it down and I only have a few hours in the evening to knit during the week so I took advantage of some extra free time

now that I've gotten that off my chest (whew!) ~ this is my FAVORITE day so far ~ I love the straight lines and the organization of this one ~ pretty little stitches all in a row .... more of a 'lace' look and less of a 'cable' look if you understand what I mean?

It's amazing how the same 4 or 5 stitches can make so many different, unique patterns. If I wasn't hooked on lace before, I sure am now!

On a side note, this yarn is definitely more sport weight than fingering ~ my scarf is wider than it's supposed to be and even with the 4th 'extra' skein I bought, I'm certain that I won't have enough yarn to finish so I ordered another skein online at Jimmy Bean's. I can always make some socks with it if I don't need it.....but I'm almost positive that I will!

AND...I've already decided that if it is SO gigantic when I'm finished that I can't wear it as a scarf, it is going to make a BEAUTIFUL table runner for my kitchen table ;)

My day 3 and 4 knit is finished.
I think day 4 was a hard one... Had troubles concentrating and keeping up with the YO, so this is a result of knit and frog several times. Because of that I am not sure this is right, can't wait to see yours day 4 so I can see if it looks like mine lol:.
Here is my scarf so far. I'm still not sure about the colores, but have decided to use the yarn anyway. Who knows, when the scarf is finished and blocked it maybe will turn out great lol:.

NO hands to spread mine out--it's scrunched...finally figured out those dropped stitches...but see the bottom rows? I have more than one purl out of place, I think? But I will leave it...I have to admit, dropping those stitches on purpose was very nerve wracking to me. I also will place a lifeline in before Day 3 in case I do want to go back and "do over"...that way I won't be so scared about losing a YO or a stitch somewhere!

I found today's sample much easier than Day 1 ~ can't wait to block when I'm finished so my patterns appear as they are supposed to ~ my yarn is really 'scrunching up' as I go. This was a fun patch to do ~ a little disconcerting the first time you 'drop' a stitch but it was fun to watch it unravel to form a ladder!

I have finished day 2 knitting, and hopefully can this help you Rachel when you see the whole pattern. On the left side in the photo it is only the edge that not is so clear...
I find my yarn a bit strange. Some parts are not the right weight, parts are more in lace weight. And, it seems that the blue part of the yarn are a thicker weight... Well,well, just have to see how it all turnes out.

Day 2 questions

Yep, questions already.

We're gearing up for a big blizzard here (again!) and I was up super early listening to the weather. I might go get my mom from my sisters house early to miss the storm. But I started knitting Day 2...

Here's my questions...

I was doing first "set" on Day 2 -- how many YO's total do you have before the dropping of the stitch in row 9??? I have 9...I'm thinking I missed one somewhere, so I'm going to TINK back...eeek! I didn't put a lifeline in and I should've...so this will be tricky. That one side without the YO looks "wrong" to me...comparing to the picture is hard because it doesn't show the whole section (I think)...I"m too math challenged to count it out...plus I have one row that is "off" in my P3's (I mised a purl) which is bugging me.

I will have to mess with it a bit later and see what happens. I'm alittle nervous about this day just because of the dropping of that stitch...panicked? Not yet...but I'll check back later.

OH

And the very last row 15 of the second 'set' is when we don't do ANY YO's, right????

My needles are a shakin'....hee hee.

I really like it.

My fancy turbo needles would'nt work because the metal made my yarn dirty. I'm back to these wood ones for now. I guess I could go to wood circular? I can probablly see it better,and yes I put in a life line that's what you see at the top.

Not the best photo ~ my husband is stretching my knitting for me since I don't own a blocking board (yet), so it looks a bit distorted and uneven. I really don't knit this lopsided! I will get better at taking photos ~ hopefully! ~ you can see my yarn color better (it looked pink in the picture I posted of the yarn when I bought it but it's really a tie-dyed looking salmon color). It's really pretty!

This is the yarn I chose ~ it's a 4-ply merino wool from Wales ~ it's a bit more salmon colored than the photo looks with a bit of shade variations throughout. Seeing twisted in stitches day one knitting I am now sitting on my hands to stop them from starting knitting lol:.
But, I can not sit long, because they are needed for finishing 5 fingers on my hubby's gloves - and these gloves needs to be finished before I can start on the scarf. So, while I am waiting I can show you the yarn I'm going to use. Kauni is a Danish yarn I think. Since it is shifting in 4 colores I am not sure if it will work out, but I am going to give it a try.

I hope everyone is getting ready to knit their scarves! I am...and very excited to have some friends to do it with!

I was looking over the pattern this AM and I have already found I have a question. On Day 2 there is this:

15th Row: (right side), ESK4, K2, x P2, K1, YO, K1, P2, K1, drop next stitch from the knitting needle and unravel it down to the YO (yarn over), KR1 x, rep.

Okay, dropping and unraveling will be very new to me (at least, doing so on PURPOSE!) but what is a KR1?
